Complete Troubleshooting Guide

Step-by-step diagnostic procedures for resolving tab detection, CDP debugger attachments, canvas timeouts, and rate limits.

1

Extension Shows "Google Flow Not Detected"

Flowmator includes an active Lock Screen overlay that prevents prompts from accidentally injecting into unrelated browser tabs (e.g. YouTube, Twitter, or docs).

Diagnostic Checklist:
  • Confirm the active tab URL is flow.google.com or labs.google/flow.
  • Click anywhere directly onto the Google Flow canvas to ensure Chrome marks it as the focused window.
  • Click the Recheck Tab button inside the side panel overlay.
2

Prompts In Queue But Not Submitting

Google Flow uses ProseMirror, a contenteditable rich text editor that ignores standard value injections. Flowmator uses Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) to dispatch native keystrokes.

Resolution Steps:
  • Check if Chrome DevTools (F12) is already open on the Google Flow tab. Chrome only permits one debugger attachment per tab. Close F12 and restart the sequence.
  • Ensure the ProseMirror input box is visible on screen and not scrolled out of view.
3

Generation Timed Out (90 Seconds)

If Google Flow experiences extreme server load, generating high-resolution images can take over 90 seconds.

Workaround:

If Google Flow is regularly taking longer than 90s, temporarily switch to Turbo Interval Mode with Min Delay: 60s and Max Delay: 90s to accommodate peak cloud latency.

4

Auto-Downloads Not Saving to Disk

Flowmator uses chrome.downloads.download() to save verified images. If images render on screen but do not save:

  • Verify that the "Auto-Download Images" toggle is enabled in the Flowmator settings panel.
  • Check Chrome's download settings (chrome://settings/downloads). If "Ask where to save each file before downloading" is enabled, Chrome will block silent automated downloads.
5

Google Flow Changed Its User Interface

Google regularly updates Google Flow's client-side build. Flowmator uses resilient multiple-query selectors (div.ProseMirror[contenteditable="true"], button.generate-icon-button, button[aria-label="Start generation"]). If Google significantly alters their DOM structure, submit a diagnostic ticket on our Support Center.
